Stanford grads are smarter than us

28 04 2010

I’ve always been a fan of Pac-10 athletics. I grew up in Los Angeles and became a die-hard UCLA fan at a young age primarily because they wear a cool shade of blue. But there’s a lot more to love. Stories about John Wooden not letting his players dunk at UCLA because he thought it disrespected the game, foggy football games in Eugene and Seattle, USC’s cheerleaders, Oregon’s cheerleaders, Arizona State’s cheerleaders and Keith Jackson, who would NOT look good in a cheerleader outfit but who is the best play-by-play guy not named Vin Scully. I love his voice.

Anyway, I was offered a chance to interview Stanford basketball’s Landry Fields, who put up a 20/9 on the NCAA last season. He’s a cool dude and since he grew up in Los Angeles (Long Beach), I instantly liked him.
